SCC Board Elections

At Hickam Elementary School, we deeply value the collaboration and engagement of our parents and community members in shaping the future of our school community.

As part of our commitment to fostering a strong partnership between parents, teachers and staff, students, and administrators, we invite you to participate in the election of parent and community board members for the Hickam Elementary School Community Council (SCC) Board.

Your input and participation are vital in ensuring that our SCC Board accurately represents the diverse voices and perspectives within our school community. The SCC Board plays a crucial role in decision-making processes that impact our school's direction, policies, and initiatives.

To cast your vote for the parent and community board members, please complete the Google Form below. The election will be open from May 1st to May 15th.

Your vote will help determine the individuals who will serve as advocates for our parent and school community and contribute to the continued success of Hickam Elementary School. We encourage all parents and community members to participate in this important process.

Michael C. Reid-Selth

My name is Michael C. Reid-Selth, and I want to help ensure Hickam Elementary provides the best possible experience for all of it's students.

The SCC board plays a vital role in fostering community involvement to support school improvement and student academic achievement. I firmly believe in this mission and the positive impact it has on our children's education.

I'm seeking to continue my service on the SCC Board. I hope my experience with the council will allow me to contribute valuable insights and ensure continuity in our efforts. I'm committed to working collaboratively with parents, teachers, students, the school community and school administrators to:

  • Increase community involvement: I'll actively seek ways to encourage and facilitate broader participation from the Hickam Elementary community.
  • Support school improvement: By fostering open communication and understanding diverse perspectives, I'll help identify areas for improvement and advocate for initiatives that benefit our students.
  • Champion student success: My top priority remains ensuring every child at Hickam Elementary thrives in a supportive and enriching environment.

Thank you for considering my candidacy. I believe my dedication, experience, and commitment to collaboration make me a strong candidate for the SCC Board.

Catherine Love

With 5 children at Hickam Elementary, I have a vested interest in helping to make Hickam Elementary the best school possible for them and their peers.

Tony Buus

I retired from the Air Force and then spent four years leading teams at SpaceX before we moved to Hawaii. Currently, I'm a stay-at-home dad for my youngest child and also a military spouse. My middle child is in 2nd grade, and we'll be at Hickam for another two years before our next relocation. Earlier, I didn't have much time for volunteering, but now that I have a more flexible schedule, I want to give back. I grew up as a military kid and later joined the Air Force myself, so I understand the military lifestyle from different perspectives. I believe my experiences can be valuable to others, and I look forward to finding ways to help.

Andrea Taylor

I am a mom of a 1st and 3rd grader at Hickam (and toddler). I stay at home, therefore my availability to attend meetings and volunteer is open. At our previous school I was an active member of the PTA and head of the Hands On Art committee. As head of the Art committee, I created monthly educational art lessons and recruited parent volunteers to teach the lessons to their students’ classrooms. It was hugely successful and continued on in my absence when we moved. I have a passion for volunteering and strong desire to better the student experience. I will help in any way I can to be a fair voice for parents of students at Hickam Elementary.

Community Candidate(s)

Community Members must be individuals in the school's geographic area, individuals owning, operating or working in a business within the school's community, or an alumni of the school
