MFLC (Military & Family Life Counselor):
My name is Ms. Sanderson and I am the Military & Family Life Counselor for Hickam Elementary School. I would like to take this opportunity to share a quick and brief overview of the MFLC Program.
Brief Overview of the MFLC program:
Child Youth and Behavioral MFLCs (CYB-MFLCs) are integrated in many DODEA and public schools, and installation Child & Youth Programs across the globe. MFLCs provide non-medical confidential counseling services that build resilience and problem-solving skills to deal with everyday normal stressors. MFLCs can offer support on a variety of issues including stress management, coping skills, conflict resolution, deployment and reintegration issues, self-esteem and confidence, and grief and loss.
The MFLC program provides non-medical counseling and does not provide mental health evaluations or diagnosis. MFLC support is confidential, however we are mandated to report risk of harm to self and/or others, abuse or neglect, domestic violence, and illegal behavior. MFLC services are provided at no cost to military services members and their families, and are flexible in both time and location.
I am available to offer face to face and telehealth non-medical counseling to students and parents. If you are interested in MFLC services, you can reach me via email at [email protected] to schedule a session. Please note that a parent or guardian will need to be present during these telehealth sessions.
Mahalo for your time and I look forward to meeting and working with you all in the future.
Thank you.
