Regular and timely attendance is vital for academic success. Learn about our attendance policies, tardy procedures, extended leave, and daily routines below.

School Attendance & Punctuality Policy

🕗 Punctuality & Tardy Arrival

Students are expected to be physically in their classroom by 8:00 AM. Students arriving after 8:00 AM are marked tardy and must check in at the front office for a pass.

Requirement: A Parent/Guardian must physically accompany tardy students to the office to sign them in.

🗓️ Full-Day Attendance

Students must be present for at least half of the instructional day to be officially counted present for a full school day.

🧑‍⚖️ Compulsory Attendance & Chronic Absenteeism

In accordance with HRS §302A-1132, children ages 5 through 17 are required to attend school. Missing 10% or more of the school year—including excused absences, unexcused absences, or chronic tardiness—is classified as chronic absenteeism.

📃 Excused Absences & Tardies

Medical appointments or illness-related absences may be excused. Documentation must be submitted in writing to the front office via email or a signed doctor's note.

⚠️ Important Attendance Reminders

Sick Policy (Fever Free)

Students must be completely fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) before returning to school.

Urgent Dismissals:

Do NOT use the online form if you need to pick up your child early today. Please call the front office directly so we can locate your child immediately.

Doctor's Notes:

If your child visits a physician, please bring or email the official doctor's note to the front office upon their return so the absence can be officially excused.

✈️ Extended Absences & Military Travel

We understand that military families sometimes face unique scheduling circumstances (such as block leave or PCSing). If you know your child will be absent for an extended period, please contact the front office well in advance.

HIDOE Vacation Policy Notice

While we appreciate advanced notice, please be aware that extended vacations taken during the academic calendar are generally classified as unexcused absences under HIDOE policy.

Teachers are not required to provide packets of advance work for unexcused vacations.

📝 Report a Student Absence

If your child will be absent or arriving late due to illness or a medical appointment, please notify the school office prior to 8:00 AM.

Campus Opens / Breakfast Service: 7:45 AM

First Bell / Students Proceed to Class: 7:55 AM

Tardy Bell (Instruction Begins): 8:00 AM

Regular Dismissal: 2:10 PM
