To can you think of ways to sharpen your stuff now that's why leaders have fabulous Walking Dead a week ago can I find that was a really cool video yeah that was amazing now here's a story that most Hickam elementary students can relate to being a military child has Carson coupons that story Carson April is the month of the military child let's hear from our very own Hickam students on would feel about being a child military child because you make friends in some places and then you'll move away from all over the world and I think that's pretty awesome things that you know that about everywhere in the military child because you get out like travel to a lot of places like Germany California and Illinois and Jerry play lucky because like you can live on base about being a military child is that we get to travel all over the globe and I hope that you feel the same as us I didn't know we were so many great things about being a military child yeah it's great speaking of right let's take another look our Hickam broadcast team hard at 1 Aloha akua she needs Capital commentary I'm Sienna Barboza Elementary and this is representative Mark Nakashima District number one representing Big Island to South hero thank you for spending time with us today so what is your goal for this legislative session number of goals worked for this year this recently the legislature announced a package of bills that that we are looking to move forward to help the Working Class People able to afford living in Hawaii so we have a major tax tax rebate that that's coming to to the people real working as increasing minimum wage and also providing for more Universal Child Care early learning for 3 and 4 year olds that sounds like a great so how do you want to like achieve all of those things and have been working on this with members community and the governor and so yesterday we did have a press conference to announce on these measures that we are going to be sunny pills to hospitals these areas that will move this agenda forward well that sounds like a great thing to do and thank you for today Santa Rosa from his Elementary and you're watching a little Catholic commentary Capital today I came to see the opening day and to talk to legislators make sure they understand my issue what do you like most about it there's a really festive time but it's also a time when Community representative visit the Capitol and talk to their legislators and it's great to see everybody doing that my name is Miley Lou from Hickam Elementary School watching you have the commentary Mahalo hello my name is Kayden mahanian today I'm here with Senator Glenn with Kai representing district 15 Kalihi through Pearl Harbor what are your goals for this legislative session thanks for having me here and I am in charge of Economic Development energy and tourism for the state one of my big goals is to make sure that we are able to build a new stadium they're not too many things a government Pacific States people people not so excited when you fix her role with school but stadiums that's something that really excites the community so before you were born 45 years ago we built this metal structures fifty thousand people right outside of Hickam Elementary soloist that's 45 years hiring. But you know kind of like maybe if your mom and dad had a really old car is kind of weird as Dawn breaks down and maybe watery. But after a certain point the tires are ready to fall off and we've gotten to the point where it's time to get a new car so we we are going down the road of spending 350 million dollars that's a lot of money that's at 3 V oh, and then there's six more zeros after that that's how big of a figure that is 350 million dollars but we need not just to replace the current Stadium but we need to have it in more than just football cuz right now it's locked down to football configuration not really good for rugby not really purposeful for soccer and you know if you went to the Bruno Mars concert or you went to marshmallow woohoo I saw marshmello make the concert venue it's not a really good concert is junk and UFO set up a stage and break down to Stage their modern ways to just roll stage in her oldest age out we should really be looking at that seating is a multi-use stadium and I'm only talk so far about the stadium itself but behind or around the stadium it sits on a hundred acres of asphalt the parking lot and I think you and I could do something much more valuable than just have a place for a parking stall so the mission is after we built this new stadium it's going to be 35 thousand and said of 50,000 that we are going to put it's called mix use around it so you and I can go eat there we can go shopping there a Forever 21 I can go to buy small closed eye we can go in and eat at McDonald's or some fancy restaurants in there but we we can turn that into a destination for the people in that area that in addition right next door to the current state of it is going to be new real stop so right now if we had the real stop there then stop for what 6 uh football games maybe go to a swap meet imagine if we put that makes you stare people went there to shop when they're to die go to be entertained that's an awesome opportunity so I'm really excited about that part a project coming online we got the money and now it's time to call execution we have to actually build it and make it something that's all you and your your friends from can Elementary to be super thrilled to go to and be proud of how do you plan on repairing it seems 45 years old it needs this year started budget it needs 16:1 million dollars to repair it so you can see how go back to the old mommy and daddy's junk old car 16 million dollars after 16 million dollars I mean that it's not going to fix itself right that number is only going to get bigger and bigger in the future so it's time for to stop paying $69 to build a new stadium and Main Street we maintain it for hopefully more than 45 years but that's how we're currently paying for the existing Stadium that's a good idea thank you for your time thank you for your time my name is killing me and your fifth grader at Hickam Elementary School mahalo the capitol Commons this week's joke of the weekend if an athlete gets assets but what does an astronaut get mistletoe this week in history in history on April 24th in the 1800s Carson John Adams sign the Library of Congress creators are spreading ycc reminding up Cristiano Barboza with house second grader basically I forgot what I was going to do before the break students in second grade before the Brixton 2nd grade getting ready to April is the month of the military child let's hear from our very own Hickam students on house
