Meet Your Teacher

Aloha! My name is Leon Moore. I grew up on Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam. Back then it was just called Hickam Air Force Base.  In fact, I drive by my old house every day on my way to work. We used to live on 16th street. I'm an only child and also consider myself a "Military Brat." My favorite memories of living on Hickam are going bowling at the old bowling alley where the fitness center is today, watching my dad play softball near the Kuntz Gate, and playing video games at the Puka Lounge at the Par 3 Golf Course. I learned to love bowling and golf from my dad. 

I graduated from the University of Hawaii with a Bachelor's Degree in Education in 1995  and have taught for over 20 plus years. During that time, I have taught Kindergarten, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. I also spent 10 years as the Gifted and Talented teacher right here at Hickam. I have always loved incorporating technology in the classroom, and I am now the Technology Integration Specialist and I love it! 

I also met my wife in college at the University of UH Manoa where we both had a math class together. We have two very spoiled cats named Roxy and Jedi, and two cats and two dogs who will be forever in our hearts named Loki, Nani, Chika and Rontu, who have crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge."

In my free time, I like spending time with my family, snowboarding, golfing, hiking, and reading.
